Product Creation 101

To create a product you need to fill a want or a need. Wants are things like a game system or how to toilet train the cat. Needs are things like how to keep a child busy or something to carry a laptop. People actually prefer wants over needs.

There is a difference between a physical product and an information type product. So will your product be something people can hold, or is it going to be just information?

Physical products

If you create a physical product there are plenty of different ways to get it out to people. With a little bit of research you can find lots of different stores online that will be glad to add your product to their market. There are places that will create the product for you. Offline will take a little bit more research, but can be done. People have created jams and sold them to co-workers and worked their way up to selling in national grocery chains.

Luna is shown here in a physical shirt available at Blue Lemonade Stand.  It says “I didn’t do it.  No one saw me.  You can’t prove it.”

Information products

If you are selling information, then you need to decide what format you are going to use to share it. Information can be turned into a physical product such as a book, an audio CD, a software CD, a DVD, or other formats. Some people choose to skip the physical route all together and have people download information from the internet.

The best time to get started with your product is now!
