In your niche business blueprint you need to find a way to put yourself in front of people interested in your topic. Some people will tell you to create multiple sites in the niche and use different angles for each. They will write a blog post everyday, adding it to a different blog each day. While this focus allows for a lot of diversity, and allows a broader blanket, it can really spread you thin.

Single site development, this method means putting emphasis on the single site. This means developing social interaction with visitors. This one site means it is easier to share with others. Spending time to come up with beneficial posts and development of relationships is critical, which can be a disadvantage to some.

There are several different ways to cover a niche.

If you have found your niche, congratulations! Now that you have, do you know what the next steps are? Finding your niche is just the first step in the niche business success blueprint.

What are you going to offer?

Have you researched to find products that fit your niche? What problems do people have? If you are going to provide a service or a product, even a digital product, have you studied the market to see if you can fill that problem or problems?

Are they willing to pay?

For a niche business, earning money is essential. While you may have the very best solution to a problem, it will not matter if the people will not pay. Even if there are some buyers, you need enough to make your niche business work.

Your niche business blueprint

A business is as unique as you are. There are no rules that are guaranteed to work or not work, these are guidelines to help you succeed. You need to consider if your market is big enough to have buyers and small enough to have a target market. Finding buyers and something to sell is the goal that is an absolute must.

While you may be thinking passion is reserved for love, but it can be part of your life. Yesterday’s post explained Why Passion Helps Your Online Business Success. While knowing that may help your business, if you do not know what makes you passionate, it is hard to start an online business that can push toward success.

What did you enjoy as a child?

Remember what made you happy when you were young. Then think about the things you love to do now. There may just be a correlation between the two.

What would you do if every job paid the same?

You were probably told as a child that this job pays and that job does not. Your passion is in what you want to do.

What makes you feel alive?

This is actually based on a powerful quote by Harold Whitman. “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

What fascinates you?

If you are regularly learning about something it is probably a passion of yours and a hint of your future business success.

What do people ask you?

The topic they ask about is very likely something that you are passionate about and they hear it in your voice and feel your enthusiasm. They are coming to you because you are who they consider an expert.

What would you do if failure was impossible?

This is probably the biggest test of all. You may have something pop into your head that you have been wanting to do. You fear failure. Do not worry, everyone does. The difference is what people do, do they push through the fear, or allow it to stop them. Your passion, your future, your business success all depend on what you do with that fear.

While you may be thinking passion is reserved for love, but it can be part of your life and significant part of your online business success. You probably have read articles that have told you how important passion is. There are very few articles that tell you why. “Why” is what this post will answer.

Passion and You

Following your passion in business helps you reach for greater heights. You will have more incentive and tenacity to grow and learn more. It also motivates and encourages you and makes you feel enjoy life better.

Passion and Your Online Business Success

Going into business requires that you are able to push yourself. If your business is something that makes you feel alive then you will have a greater desire to persist when things are hard. You will be more likely to work the longer hours that starting a business normally takes.

The biggest advantage of being passionate about what you do in your online business is that it makes you a better person. You feel more confident which pulls people to you and they feel your passion and it makes them want some of that for themselves. They want your products and your services because they can sense your joy and almost everyone wants more joy in their lives.

Your blog first and foremost should be something that interests you and your readers.

Picking a Niche

You need to find a niche, which a specialized market. A blog covering everything is too broad for your readers to get involved. Focusing on something smaller, like home theaters, flower gardening, or cooking quick easy meals give you and your readers a certain amount of connection automatically. When you choose a blog topic that you enjoy your readers will feel your passion and be more inclined to read.

Once you decide on a niche, look for forums, social networks and other online sites aimed at your niche. Look for people wanting information, people who are buying, and what they are buying. Make a few posts, discuss your ideas. This will start building your reputation and help you find potential readers..

Not an expert?

Don’t worry if you aren’t an expert. A 4th grader knows more than a 1st grader. Thus sharing your knowledge about a particular niche even if you do not think is much is more than what some know.

Being a professional writer is not required. As long as you can follow basic grammatical rules and write in a clear and engaging fashion you will find readers. Your readers are not looking for Shakespeare, they are looking for information.

I hate to write

Fortunately there are many sites that offer articles which is great blog content. Ezine Articles is one such site. I highly recommend the Expert Author MJ Schrader. Seriously right now I have over 100 articles and the number is growing. But you can search on Ezine articles for different articles that fit your needs.

Your blog should add value to your readers’ lives, give them something to thing about, or makes them form an opinion. This is what will keep your readers coming back again and again.

~ MJ Schrader

PS Tomorrow’s post will be about how to use Ezine Articles.

Be clear – if you cannot identify any competitive advantages offered by your existing products or services, than you need to improve them so that you can. ~ Phil Stone ~

You probably know your niche. Perhaps you know all about your niche or are learning everything you can. As long you are learning about your niche, you know more than someone else, but what is your USP?

USP Defined

Your USP is your Unique Selling Proposition or Unique Selling Point. While knowing about your niche is important, you need to have a unique selling proposition, a unique voice. Unless you picked a market with no competition your voice needs to be different. If you picked out a market with no competition you might want to re-visit what defines a market that will be popular enough to be self-sustaining.

Finding Your USP

Look at your competition, then decide how your selling proposition is different. If it is not different how can you make your point unique. Remember different people have different needs and wants. Then you need to decide how you can sell your product, or niche in a way that is unique from the competition.

An Example

Think about the commercials for Toilet Paper. One paper holds up better than the competition, another says it is softer. Another is thicker so you can use less. Each of these are unique selling points that make the brand stand out from the other.

So how can you make your voice unique? Share your Unique Selling Proposition here.

As a writer and WordPress Rockstar, people often ask me questions. Quite a few questions are about what to write and what is acceptable. While for those of you in the #blog30 challenge, you are half way through, but you may still wonder “what should I write in my blog?”

Write for your readers…

No matter what you are writing, unless it is for your amusement only, you need to think about your readers. They are following you because of your topic. Now it may be that your point of view has become the stuff of legends and it brings in readers as well. For most writers it is your subject matter, your niche is your “market.”

What is your niche?

That blog niche is what your readers care about most. This is probably what brought them to your blog, be your niche be about taking the high road, hypnosis, online tools or pole dancing. Your readers expect most posts to about that niche. Did you notice the “most” bit? Your readers are your most important goal. Your readers do not expect a robot. You have a personal life, you have more than one interest.

More interests?

Well, I don’t know about you, but as much as I enjoy WordPress, I love my English Cocker Spaniel more. Perhaps you enjoy a particular dog breed, or just animals. Maybe you have a rose garden, or you paint, or you cook. Having a whole blog about it would destroy your interest but it is something you want to share. Then mention it on occasion.

Should I include personal stuff?

How about an example? Here on the left is a picture at a social gathering. You can see Joe Vitale drinking some home brewed beer that I made. Home brew is an interest of mine. Being able to talk with Joe Vitale, Wendi Friesen, an world renowned hypnotist has given me confidence. This was after a seminar that helped establish my reputation as the WordPress Rockstar. It’s a cross niche, cross interest, cross topic that helps add material to my blog and let you know… yup I am real. (or at least last I checked)

Make it real!

Making a reference to your life gives your blog a personal feel. (If you have children, many blog writers use code names for their children rather than real names.) You may have children, a spouse or significant other, pets… these help bring your life into focus and may help you focus on your niche. It helps your readers know a bit about who you are. Writing only business without any personal reflection will alienate you from readers rather than bring them in.

When you write a post about your life weave in the blog focus, lessons learned related to the focus, humor, or combine all of the above. This involves the reader and keeps the blog focus. Social media is the current king because we are sharing more and your posts should as well.

~ MJ Schrader

PS. What is your niche? What is your unique angle?

PPS. And with that thought I now I have a post for tomorrow! TOMORROW: What is your USP?

What is your blog niche?

Today is the 2nd day of the 30 day challenge and today, I have decided to tell a story. Yes, I asked what your blog niche is… but this goes with it. Because today’s story is about my blog niche.

What is my niche?

Yes, Rockstar Guide Books is about how to succeed with WordPress and other internet tools. Yet I am partners in a daily success and motivation blog, that has daily… you guessed it, success and motivational tips. This seems to be an extremely different category, but it isn’t.

How can write 2 niches?

Well there is also a blog about my life. If you have read it for some time you will notice I have talked about abuse. Only within the past year have I come forward to say that I was in an emotionally abusive relationship. Even worse, I acquired emotionally abusive friends so when the marriage crumbled I stayed emotionally abused.

What does that have to do with the 2 niches?

Years later, I realized that many people do not feel they can succeed. Perhaps from abusive relationships (past, present, physical, mental etc…), perhaps from teachers who degrade rather than teach, perhaps from friends who mean well, but tell you that unless you follow “this path” you will not succeed. So success, motivation, encouragement is something I want to help others with, in any writing that I do.

What does this have to do with you?

Short version: Make certain the essence of who you are is in your niche. Long version, do not be afraid to vary from your niche slightly. Share your other interests and hobbies and voice while writing posts within your niche. This is what makes you, you! Who you are is part of what makes your voice unique and stand out from the crowd.

Please comment with your niche and what makes your voice unique.

Thank you,

~ MJ Schrader
