It resulted in me researching and writing.  Writing is my number one passion.  Researching is a sideline of a couple of my passions.

Another one I have, because I seem to be gifted in it, is studying online tools and presenting their use in a simple and easy format for others to learn from and use.   It makes me happy to hear from you when you say… “Wow!  Thank you I know how to use …”   Because helping others has long been something that makes me come alive.

So writing, researching, helping and encouraging others and online tools.  Those are my passions toward business.  I also love silly English Cocker Spaniels but that’s just a personal issue…

But my websites… all of them… are based on combinations of these elements.  Rockstar Guide Books is designed to help, encourage and motivate you while teaching you online tools.  This requires that I write and research.  Happy Camper.

365 Online Tips is 365 days of encouraging and motivational tips to help people succeed.  This requires writing, researching various methods to encourage others and the fabulous daily quotes.  There are some absolutely fabulous ones that Kelly and I have come across.  While there are some favorites, the one I want to share is sweet and hopefully will make you smile!

Now if you are thinking the quote is sort of random, then you should have a conversation with me.  My brain is rather overflowing with information, and sometimes random things spill over. 

Yesterday you learned some of the advantages and disadvantages of advertising copy in WordPress.  Today is going to cover some solutions to the sidebars and menus.

Does your theme have templates?

Many WordPress themes have various templates. If you are writing a page in WordPress you can look for Page Attributes. This is to the right of your writing if you have two columns or underneath if you have just one. In this box you hopefully will see parent and then template. Unfortunately not all themes offer various templates. The template will have a name sometimes it will tell you archive, no side bar, clean or something similar.

Template Testing

Unfortunately previous does not always show various templates. If you do not want it going live, go to the publish button and change Visibility to private then publish. Then you can see if that template is going to fit your needs.

Theme Options

Some themes have special page options. You can look for a box with the theme name and options on your page. There you can turn off the sidebar or navigation menu.

Make Your Own Template

You can learn coding to create your own template. It really does not take much, if you like your theme you just create a copy of your sales page and remove the sidebar and header information. Since this information varies so much there is no simple explanation of it.  I have created templates and now I would rather BUY MINE

Your presence online depends on knowing how to use the tools that are available.  My goal is to help you succeed with these tools.  In recommending other tools online, I work to find low cost or even free tools to help your online presence grow.

Pat is a great person to begin this series. He is the author of “Your Portable Empire.”  The major reason he is such a great person to start with, is that almost all the people and products I recommend over the course of the next week I have met through him. Even with ones I did not meet because of him directly, they were people I met through the connections made.

And actually the lesson in a two days will explain the value of Friend-sourcing. This is actually very similar to outsourcing… except different. But thanks to Pat, the Unseminars and his coaching program I have made friends for life.

What does Pat teach?

While I teach how to get WordPress online and create a website, Pat teaches newbies (beginners) how to get a business online. If you want to change your website from one that just provides information online to one that actually works for you then look to Pat.

This ebook / workbook, Freedom Power was a game changer for me. After reading this book, I realized I could turn my interest, writing, and my skills, WordPress, into something to help me stay online. It takes a lot of work to create an online business, and I am not there yet, but hope to be.

But his gentle instructions walk you through the steps of getting online and developing your first product.

While I went a slightly different route choosing WordPress instead of building sites, it was still his advice and instructions that helped me see the light.   It is hard to know how to play a game if you don’t know all the rules.  This rule book helps you learn all the steps and parts involved in turning your Website into an online business.

Hopefully I will be able to make it Unseminar 8, however this post was written early to prepare for funeral plans when they arise.

Update: It looks like I will be able to attend Sunday during the seminar between family situations, however I will have to be back home early Monday and hopefully things will be back to normal Wednesday afternoon.

Why?

There is a lot on my plate right now. Not that I will stop posting but I am still learning about scheduling and trying to get everything done. So I will probably be cutting back to once a week posts HERE until then. Here translates into here!  365 Online Tips has daily posts with Kelly and I splitting it and my personal blog has weekly posts as well.

What will you be doing?

As I mentioned a few posts ago, Your Business and Your Inner Game I have several products near completion that I have been sitting on.  Hopefully, I will come out with Rockstar Guide To WordPress Plugins tomorrow. You will learn how to find plugins, load them easily, and decide if they should be installed. Then mention of several different plugins and how they can benefit you.

Then Rockstar WordPress Education is the next in the plan. This is a weekly course delivered to your email box that will start at the beginning. For people who already have WordPress don’t worry, you will only be bored the first two lessons or so. You will be learning about installation, income, plugins, WordPress as a website, and much more. 52 lessons with bonus lessons should keep you going a while! Since I need to raise money for airfare this will be offered only as an annual fee at first.

After that is Rockstar Guide to Blog Income. Does that need further explanation?

Yes. I actually have 3 more in the works, plus plans for a lot more. 365 Online tips is coming out with a new ebook at the end of the month. Sorry, I am dropping my two videos, it takes up a lot of online storage and doesn’t benefit me. Also, I am a reader and don’t like the videos so I am dropping the line.

Is there anything I can do?

Yes, please go to Southwest Airlines, buy a roundtrip ticket from Dallas to El Paso for me.  NO? (Do I at least get points for trying?)
